Hi.

I found that each refresh of Desktask launch new invisible instance of Outlook which takes a lot of memory... Do you know about it?

Hi There,

Yes DeskTask launch's is own Outlook Window in an hidden mode, in order to avoid any clash if the user is working in Outlook.

Although it seems a waste of resources, Outlook will only be active the necessary time to refresh the Calendar/Tasks List.

I found it to be the safest way to retrieve data from Outlook.

If it's a problem for you, just set the refresh interval to higher values to avoid the execution of the Hidden Outlook window many times.

Thanks,
Regards

Hi.

You didn't understand, I think. My problem is that Outlook is not active the necessary time only but forever. So after a half day i have for example 6 running Outlook instances (one for every refresh) and it means about 100MB of my memory. Problem is that the invisible Outlook instance is never closed.

Hi,

Sorry, I did not understand your problem.

So what happens is that DeskTask fails to close the hidden Outlook window.
This is not at all the default behavior. Any Outlook Hidden window will be closed by DeskTask when it finishes reading the Data, so probably it's an Outlook issue.

What is your Outlook Version?
Can you try to uninstall and again install outlook? and test DeskTask?

Thanks

Hi.

I tried to repair (reinstall) Outlook but it is not better. I have Office 2003 + SP1 and Windows XP + SP2.

Hi again.

Finally I have found where was a problem. It was SpamBayes plugin for Outlook. Outlook was not able to close when this plugin was installed. May be there is problem with more plugins...

If I can ask something, when will be new version of this really good software? :-)

Glad you found out what was the problem.

The thing is, I cannot control what plug-in's are installed and which of them work or not. It's up to each third-party company's that develop those plug-in's properly.

I'm not sure at this time, but hopefully very soon, stay tuned ;)
