I haven't seen my particular problem. On my very first run I get and error message which says "Failed to get dat for Window Top" using the 0.60beta. While it runs I see no graphics from it whatsoever, I tried restore, refresh, ran through all the different configurations I could think of and nothing seems to work. I was only able to find one key in the registry which was under Carthago. I noticed there was no WindowPos or any other related syntax in the list. However, there was a WindowTop setting (93) I've uploaded a screenshot to image shack at

The program looks like something I'd like to use but so far I'm not able. I do run quite a bit of customization software, mostly Stardock products.

In fact I just tested with a clean registry branch, and I have the same error.
So Thanks for reporting this problem, will be fixed in the next release.

Meanwhile, as a workaround, launch Desktask, wait for the error, and then simply close DeskTask normally, either selecting Quit in the tray menu or right click the blank window and select Quit. Next time you launch DeskTask the error should be gone since the value for "WindowTop" is already in the registry.

I've discovered that the Stardock Program IconX and DeskTask have a conflict. If I start DeskTask first it works as it should. If I then start IconX it "dissapears". It still shows in the Process List and as a running application, and I can still go through the congiuration from the Systray. If I unload IconX it suddenly "aapears". Seems to be where my problem comes from.

Well in this case I'm not sure.

I've used a couple of times StarDock applications and I know they sometime use non standard technics to do some advanced things.

Desktask is a child of the desktop, if other application, and i don't know exactly what IconX does, replaces or gets on top of the desktop then Desktask no longer works (or in this case, appears).

I cannot give support when there is conflict with an application that apparently replaces the Desktop.
