DeskTask with Office 2007

Posted: 2006-06-22 00:56

Reports from several users have shown a 100% compatibility with the current beta of Microsoft Outlook 2007, having no problems whatsoever connecting to new version.

It seems the Automation API, used by DeskTask to acquire the Calendar itens and Task items data have not changed (or it has a 100% compatibility with the older API)

Office 2007 has been well received by reviewersdue to the new Ribbon interface and it seems DeskTask users can make a smooth transition.

Looking forward to test not only DeskTask with Outlook, but the whole Office 2007 new interface.

DeskTask and PST File password

Posted: 2006-06-13 13:06

After getting a request to support PST password's, something I never had used, I looked into Outlook API and Googled for it, with no results.

There is no way to send the password when trying to open a PST protected file via OLE Automation.

So unfortunately this means that for users that password protect their PST file they will have to enter the password on each refresh.

Any information regarding this, from fellow programmers would be greatly appreciated.

Applications I really use - Part 2

The one utility I can't afford while working is Dialog Box Assistant (DBA)

DBA puts a recent file list on standard Windows Dialogs, giving the ability to recall any previously opened file or folder.
This came's in handy so many times, that when I'm in a computer without DBA, I feel something is missing.

I liked this concept so much, that the standard File Dialogs of Twistpad have a history button:

And evidently DBA Works with Twistpad.

Coping with ClearType

Posted: 2006-06-12 22:17

The Known problems of DeskTask and Clear type could be somewhat improved with the latest release (RC7) of DeskTask.

There is now the possibility to specify the color which is considered transparent, which improves dramatically the display of DeskTask with Cleartype.

Additionally a color picker is available to find a suitable color if there is a desktop wallpaper

Any feedback regarding this issue is welcome.
